The original WiFi kobo firmware definitely had some bug relating to battery discharge as I saw the OP's issue myself several times. Under some circumstances, the kobo was not truly going to sleep.

Several attempts to remove and reinstall the usb drivers for the Ereader gave finally the sollution. Suddenly windows 11 recognized the reader. Thanks.
